The use of the historical anglicised
version of Lleyn still abounds, but we will try and
use Llŷn instead of Lleyn wherever possible on this
site (apart from this paragraph). The word Llŷn
[Lleyn] is thought to have originated from the Celtic
tribes from around Leinster in Eire, whom it is believed
colonized the Northern shores of Llŷn in settlements
such as at Castell Oddo, Porthdinllaen and Dinas Dinlle.
